Exciting Day..

Yesterday I sold 4 pieces of work.   Three bin pieces and one LARGE wall piece..
I am a happy camper!!!!

ART and GARDENING

ART or GARDENING.. I spend my days deciding what to do.. today my garden won.. tomorrow.. art..

Time to get back to work....

Time has come to get back to the studio.   I have been in the studio but teaching and not doing my own work.  
  Have had a great time with my students but now have to go back to work.... tons of half finished paintings.

  Why is it easier to see what needs to happen on others work.. and so hard on your own.. ?

New Classes!!!

I am starting to teach again!!!  My new studio is ready and so am I..
Come learn to make an abstract painting sing!!  We will play with paints, papers, gels and a world of fun things. Learn that a good abstract painting is based on design.

 My first class will be on July 8 in my studio.  The class will be from 10a to 3p.  All supplies are provided.  Just show up wearing clothes that you don't mind getting paint on.

The second class will be a two day workshop, July 15 and 16.
 This class will explore how to make your own collage papers and much more..

The cost is 960 pesos or 75 usd.  per day.

New Work in the Gallery

I have new work hanging in the Gallery.  If you are in San Miguel come over to the Fabrica Aurora and have a look!!!  
    This is May in San Miguel which means you can find parking spots downtown!!  In other words it is quiet.   So if you want to enjoy a quiet time at the Aurora now is the time to come...

Between Shows and Good News

Right now my walls in the gallery sort of look a bit like a mish mash.  So many of my encaustic flowers have sold that I have added more encaustics but they are not flowers.   There is a real cross section of my work.. I have started painting a new show that I hope to have done in a few weeks.

  Also this week I learned that my painting "Yellow and More" has been selected for the 5th Annual International Society of Acrylic Painters Open Show.  Two hundred and sixty paintings were entered into the show and 53 were selected.  I am very pleased to be in the show.  Awards will be announced on 8 of April.

Best Laid Plans!!

My plans were to post here at least once a week.. That has not happened.
   I am going to blame  my lack of posts on my broken shoulder blade.   A beach vacation turned into anything but a vacation when I fell and ended up in the hospital .  No sun tan for me.

  It has been about a two month adventure to get back to where I have the energy  to work and get back to my life.
  I was able to finish a new piece last week and get it to the gallery.  I had several empty nail heads that needed filling.  That is the really good news.  The encaustic flower show has sold well.

  Here is my new piece and a close up section.  This piece was made using the bottom of my Teva sandal.

Back to Work

New work from my new studio space!!!

  I am wondering if it is to early for a New Years Resolution.  I going to make a real effort to update my blog more often!!

     Dec. 7 at the Fabrica de La Aurora will be the First Friday Art Walk.   I plan to hang a new show.  Please come visit.

ALSO  remember that on Dec. 7 there will be a sell of artist made ornaments to benefit the S.P.A. (the local animal shelter)

June 1st at 5pm  my  new show "GOLD LIKE THE SUN" will open at Galeria Kerlegand at Fabrica Aurora in San Miguel de Allende.

Painting for the new show... The show will hang on 1 June for the Art Walk at Fabrica Aurora... AND June 1 is the day I close on my new house!!  :-)

Teaching

After a long break.. I am teaching again. I had a wonderful woman named Linda today.. she did OUTSTANDING work and I forgot to take a photo.. Hopefully she will contact me and I can ask her to send a photo.. The work was great.. she did 3 pieces in about 5 hours.. It was fun for me to watch someone 'get it'.

On New Years day I chose the word Gold as my word for the year.. not sure why but I did.. so I have started a Gold series of paintings... large and small.

New Show /Big Party Tomorrow

Tomorrow night the Fabrica La Aurora celebrates it 8th year as an Art and Design Center.

The BBC is even filming here today. Tomorrow the big party from 6-9p. If you are in San Miguel come party!

Time to get busy!

I have been on a small vacation from art. Now it is time to get busy!!

I think my new show will be called 'Layered Treasures".

I am hoping to have at least some of the show ready for the Feb. 4 big party at the Fabrica Aurora.
